    Hey Guys,

Ok after getting really sick and tired of the buick in the calais constantly having things go bust with it and the transmission is basically on it's last legs, It's time to rip if all out and do what I've been waiting to do for a very long time and dump a L67 into it. Keep in mind that my Calais is a VR. So this is why I' am doing a check list to what I will need to buy if I' am unable to find a donor car with everything attached to it for a decent price or what I will need to swap over from the Donor car.

Motor - Motor will include everything up to the drive belts (Including exhaust headers)
    Gearbox
    ECU
Wiring harness for the Motor and gearbox
    Trans cooler
    Top radiator hose
    Fuel pump
Starter motor? (Not sure if I' am able to use just a standard Ecotec starter motor or not if the motor doesn't come with one)of
BCM? I understand I may have problems if I leave my current BCM in?
    Tailshaft?

Have I missed out on anything else?

    Thanks

    FstStig

You can use the VR BCM just get a memcal with the VATS erased. Much easier then pulling out the dash and changing the dash harness etc
Also tailshaft should be fine if worse comes to worse you will most likely haft to change the yolk to suit the newer box..

Cause not everyone wants to follow the herd.
L67 seems like a fun idea.

I thought being the VR Calais the dash harness would be the same between a VR and VS, so changing over the BCM should be the only thing required? Could be wrong. But if it requires the dash to be pulled apart, then yeah I will just get a memcal with the VATS removed.

Have thought a bout it as well, and don't get me wrong I do love the sound of a nice 304, but really want to try an L67. Plus the conversion seems to be a slightly easier process.

Could be but you would still haft to modify the loom to suit the L67 engine harness you can either do what i did and buy new plugs from supercheap or go to the wreckers and cut the plugs off a body harness there and rewire it but you haft to extend the wiring tho because as you know the VR plugs are at the battery where VS are up at the booster..

EDIT: Also you will need the accelerator cable to suit the L67 cause the buick one is to short.

Ah I knew I was forgetting something. Also wont I need a Different heater tap hose? Yeah I think I might just get the VATS removed from the Memcal, seems a hell a lot easier then stuffing around with wiring.

Oh yeh thats something i forgot.. Yes you will need a heater tap and the hoses aswell.. Yeah easier to just modify the loom instead of changing the whole lot BUT you could have some problems because the VR loom has 5wires and the VS loom has 6 and the extra pink wire on the yellow/black plug is for the auto so you might haft to splice it into something to make it work
