Any one know what size screw driver bit to use on the double idler pulley bolt. Looks like some sort of star shaped screw bit?

Its called a torx bit. You can buy them at most auto shops in a kit with range of sizes.

What model I thought the bolt normally had a 18mm hex head on a VR?? Is yours supercharged??

hi all can anyone here tell me how to take off the spacer between the double idler pulley?
I got the bolt off no problem but the spacer stayed on it and does not seem to want to budge.
sorry for the hijack also :/

You didn't hijack the thread, it 3 years old !

Bearing Press would be your best option,

DONT USE A HAMMER !!!!
OTHERWISE YOU MAY FORK IT UP !!!!
Then you can guess the result.

Hint: When messing with Bearing and Pulleys,

ALWAYS use a bearing Press.

I replaced ALL the Bearings in my VY, as I refused to pay exorbitant prices for Replacement Pulleys, when the Bearings just need to be replaced !!!

As for the Plastic Pulley that has a BS Price tag of Gold on it,

I went to the Wreckers and source a METAL replace of the same size and width,
and pressed a new Bearing in to it,

The rest is history. ;)

A vice will suffice to press out/in bearings.

G’Day all, this is my first post! Just doing this job now on my VT S Supercharged V6 so thought I’d throw this info up here.

Very late I know, but for those who still need it, you will require a T50 Torx bit for the lower double idler pulley bolt. (I didn’t see anyone actually mention the size needed before).

NOTE: The thread on this bolt is normal direction to undo, ie anti-clockwise.

Cheers
