so i am in the process of putting my l67 back together after another head gasket failure from motor overheating... this is the second time i have rebuilt it and it has been much easier getting everything undone than the first time.

now i know head bolts need to be replaced, but do the rocker bolts need to be replaced too?

also even with new rocker cover gaskets on the last build, they still leaked oil... do you guys use silicone to stop the oil leaking from rocker cover gaskets?

Yes the rocker bolts should be replaced. Most people just use cap screws which can be bought from a decent quality hardware/engineering store or someone like MACE (site sponsor).

Holden VT/VX Service manual doesn't mention replacing the rocker bolts. However, check out the note below:

Factory rocker bolts are TTY. Last set I bought cost me $10 from Nuts and Bolts.
