VY II SS
Hi all,

I am thinking of putting a cam like darkrayne's old vy (228/230) with 4 into 1 headers, hiflos, exhaust, OTR into my VY SS II but I am also considering it might be smarter to wait till I get back from overseas (6 months time) and upgrade to the VE so I can have the L98 heads and a car with less kms.

VY SS II has 105 000 kms and is in good condition.

I have not driven a ve ss yet to compare but I have driven the sv6 and to be honest I don't really like the gear box which I assume is a TR-6060. Now I know alot of people will jump on the T-56 haters band wagon but I don't mind the t-56 at all.

What would you do?

i personally would wait to get a ve as it will be easier to get power out of a L98 compared to a ls1

Ha so two for VE...

What did you think of the youtube clip for the VE, sounded mean aye. Nearly 350rwkw with heads cam exhaust otr, which are precisely the mods I'm interested in.

i know someone who has a stock ssv with a tune and they have 262rwkw nothing done except a tune and to get that in a ls1 would take a full exhaust, otr and maybe more (not 100% sure)

VE Weighs a good 300kg more then a VY or VZ too, renders the extra power redundant. Unless you just want to have a tug over a dyno slip.

Is that a typo?

VY SS I 1600kg
VY SS II 1658kg (used to say 1645 has been updated since
i bought the car I researched the model for 3 months prior)

VE SS 1770kg
VE SSV 1790kg
(kerb weights)

Or is my source wrong:

redbook.com.au

Where did you get this number?
