Why not just hard wire in a small inverter.

Rather not, I thought it would be a good idea to hard wire a iPod to 12v once.
later found out they are rated at like 4v.
So I rather not risk frying my laptop by hard wiring stuff..

Oh sorry. I understand now...
Prefer something smaller, like I posted..
I would only use the inverter for laptop charging anyways..

Should work ok. Might need to upgrade fuse for lighter socket though.

My recommendation is to make sure It's powered off (or hibernating, not sleep though) when you do, I sure as hell wouldn't let that touch my VRM.

That charger should work fine, just check the volt and amp or watts rating on the laptop charger to ensure it's the same.. I run one similar in my car but its voltage adjustable so I can use it if I change my pc.

I wouldn't use an inverter to step it up to 240 then back down to 19v, extra load of the inverter plus inefficencies of each added component.

If you plan on using the device in car you'd be mad not to use an inverter. The power pack that comes with your laptop is an excellent protection measure against dirty power, spikes and fluctuations. A laptop VRM is very sensitive to these, which will take your CPU and NB out in a heart beat.
