hey, i was looking around at the wreckers today for sum level 3 dash clusters for vr-vs... none of them has k's displayed... how do u tell the k's?
yea only way is to hook power into the dash, ur thinking of changing to a level3 cluster from your old level 2?
not sure about holden, but talk to infusion (moderator) or mark0va, both of them were very helpful, infusion got his changed for 50 dollars, u got the wiring for it yet? thats the hardest part, id look for that first.. wiring harness out of berlina/calias
the odo on these can be reset with the tool to do it, some instrument repairers can do it. pm me if you want one done. Rob
Ahh I too am interested in swapping my level 2 cluster for a level 3 one. If anyone has any wiring diagrams for the patch loom required I am electrically educated so I can make one myself. If I get my own working I can make them for others too.
ey mite sound dumb but them digi km's look mint so yer my dumb question is can it be dun in a vp?? if so how will i go about doing it n how much u reckon
I dont know about cost, but you could do the same thing that is being talked about here, except you would have to the the level 3 dash that suits the VN - VP dash, not the VR - VS one.
HSV Patch Harnesses If you cannot find a Calais/Berlina harness from which to manufacture the required harness, there is a HSV wiring harness with the necessary plugs still available. Cost less than $100.
if u know ur electronics u turn on the dash cluster with a few batteries if u want to see the kms on the odo. i saw a guy do it at a wreckers he hooked up a positive and a negative cable to a set of batteries and it turned on. lol the dash 280,000 so he didnt buy it
i dont see what the big deal is with the odometer. i switched my 250000 level 1 dash with a 307000 level 3 dash. doesnt bother me
Having inaccurately high km's on the odo could make it difficult to sell the car later on or reduce its value. For example, my car has 130,000 ks on it, and I wouldnt want to put a new cluster in that reads 250,000. It'd be harder to get my money worth if I sold the car. So Dr. Bob can re-calibrate VS level 3 clusters with the correct reading?? I would definitely want this done if I were to upgrade to level 3 cluster.
Yeah you can get people to do it.. you need all the rego papers etc and the old dash to prove the actual km's.
i have a vn. high kilometres is going to be the least of my worries. besides, mines got a reco'ed engine, so i have no idea how many kilometres are on it anyway
Well i'm sure that works great for you stocky but it may come as a shock to you that there are people other than yourself whose cars still have their original motor and still have low km's, therefore, people might just give a damn about it.
lol well said shaggerz, i dont like anything above 200,000kms and when ppl buy cars they try to look 4 one that hav under 200,000kms
I heard that if you dont get a odometer with pretty much the same k's it screws with the onboard computer? My mate had to get it all reset when upgrading his Calais to a V8, took a cluster out of a VP Stato cost $100 mate reset it for free.
