Since i have today off work, i am going to use today go finally go purchase an LCD TV. Been looking at Harvey Norman etc, found a few TV's i like. I don't want anything bigger than 42" at absoloute MAXIMUM, but nothing smaller than 37". So basically i have 2 choices in size :p (37" or 42").

Been looking at LG LCD's, heard mixed reports on them. Dad owns a 42" Panasonic LCD and it has fantastic picture with HD TV, Foxtel, and Blu-Ray DVD's.

I will be running the TV with a Blu-Ray player. Anyone have any suggestions / comments / advice on quality of brands etc? I am going to spend around $1600.

mate there is one really important thing you should consider. Is there a reflection, cause reflections a b**ch especially when theres a night or dark scene. I know people say only plasmas have reflection. But LCDs do as well to some extent, some more than others.

My Samsung 32" 1080p Series 4 has 3 hdmi inputs and one slot for pc connection with 30,000:1 contrast ratio. It's just perfect for my needs especially tv viewing in which my cable provider only broadcasts sd channels. Even then the picture quality is still great which is very much better than the one on my old CRT unit. I think Samsung tv's are one of the best LCD TV as far as picture quality and budget are concerned.

I would never own a lg, not after all the trouble people in my family have had with theirs. Out of 5 in the family 4 have gone back, one is about to go back for the second time.
I have a 48" samsung series 6 full hd lcd with blu ray etc. and i love it, best tv i've had by far.
