my Mrs has a '05 VZ, needs a LH engine mount

The manual says I need to remove the exhaust manifold

is it possible to just slide it out the rear?, possibly after removing starter motor?..without removing manifold

is there any issues, apart from undo other mount and jack engine?

block bolts loctite?

a youtube showed a cut-of 15mm spanner welded to 1/2" drive, needed to get front bolt on block, dont know whether it was an alloytec though

Here you go mate, hope it helps. Don't really know about the manifold, but could you just unbolt the cat and get enough lift/access?

job completed..( '05 VZ auto wagon V6 alloytec)...ignore manuals x 2

dont remove manifold, dont waste 30min undoing top engine mount nut

needed; 13mm and 18mm sockets, and many extensions, preferably 3/8" cause its tight fit, and you should have a breaker bar, as they are done up tight too...took me a 3hrs hours,

MUST disconnect battery

jacked the car till front wheels ~2" off ground, support on stands

remove LH lower mount nut 18mm, loosen but dont remove RH lower mount nut,

bottle jack LH bellhousing about 30-40mm up, (about as far as it will go)

from beneath remove rearmost 13mm mount bracket-to-engine bolt, from above remove 2 x front bracket bolts,

slide out mount and bracket rear and down

remove upper mount nut on bench, replacement is a reverse of removal, use jack to line up bracket bolts

would be an easy job 2nd time around

starter motor and heat sheild REALLY get in the way, but you dont have to remove anything, promise ya

followed this advice and can confirm it works a treat and saves effort removing things that just aren't necessary. I found it easier to remove the mount from above though. job took a bit over an hour to remove and replace. thanks for the tips.
Noting a mount is about $50 it shouldn't cost much more than $150 inc parts for a mechanic to do this job.
