1st year of P's. Only had 'em for a month, and I plan on keepin' 'em.

Do you know what happens if you're caught doing 5-10 over? Sometimes my speed gets away from me and I go a little over without realising it. I didn't know they gave suspensions for speeding, I thought it was just a fine. Or does it depend on how much over?

Have had my Red P's for 11months now, but got done doing 60 during a school zone by a speed camera, didn't know what time it was and as there was no kids about i thought it was well over 9.30. Lost it for 3 Months, got 4 weeks to go now. Can't wait! Oh and btw where I'm living now there is no public transport. Nearest town is 10min drive away. Get to go for my Greens right away if i wish.

Michael-D - The RTA are the ones who decide how many points you lose when you get done speeding. If u get fined for Speeding, Not wearing a seat belt, DUI or reckless driving you have a big chance of losing points. I'm not to sure if u lose points for not displaying P plate's. Does anyone know?

a Drivers license is overated, to easy to get. just another cash cow for the government:p you can drive here in NZ without one and only get a slap on the wrist if you ever get pulled over AND asked for the license. i've been through multiple cop stops and was never asked. which was a good thing:whistling way back when. as long as you weren't boozing you got away with murder. having said that, i do have a full license, but that only because i got old and responsible, kids do that to ya

Late bloomer here, got my Learners last year, just before I turned 39. Never held a licence in my life. Almost done on my P1's, September this year I switch to P2's. Should have switched last November but I got done doing 69 in a 60 zone and lost a point. In SA if you lose any of the 4 points you get on your P1's you have to sit a Driver Ed course, as well as the Hazard Perception test to advance. I didn't want to waste the money and the day's wages, so went the 'stay clean for 12 months from date of offence' route.

In NSW (check your local laws) 5kms or more over the speed limit on your first year (red) p plates, its an instant loss of licence for 3 months. then you go back to 4 points again in 3 months time.
had a few friends go down that path...:whistling

and Mumboman, yes you also loose points for not displaying P plates, in NSW once again i think its 1 point per plate and somewhere in the vicinity of $130 fine per plate.

Ps drive my vt and get badly harrassed by the police though my vt is standard and a ex cop ironically lol in SA btw, full tread tyres and drive fine.

The other day got pulled over 'randomly' and the cop called me a midget before i got out the car! (though im like 6''2) gotta luv the SAPD!

I'm on my red Ps since last august, and amazing haven't lost my license yet...

Been to court for one driving offence, got out of that, and that was in a sigma...

Been pulled over countless times, very scary with the nitrous system hooked up and running

Going to court again in a week or two for other driving offences which I may get out of with a license or maybe not...not sure.

Talked my way out of 40ks over the other afternoon which was pretty scary
