VX Calais 5.7
G'day all,

I have a Jan 2001 VX Calais 5.7 with a lighting problem.

There are three wiring diagrams available:

1. "Park, Fog & Headlights With Lights On Module"

2. "Park, Fog & Headlights Without Lights On Module"

3. "Park, Fog & Headlights - Base Model"

I would assume the wiring diagram applicable to the Calais would be No.1

If so, where is the "Lights On Module" located in the vehicle?

The "Module & Component Location" diagram that I have, shows just about everything except the "Lights On Module"

Thanks in anticipation of your response,

Dan

I think it's better known as "twilight sentinel" I don't know if there is a module but a previous poster in another thread said something about a white wire off the back of the headlamp switch.

Also there is a sensor in the center of the dash near the screen, this may also be what you are referring to.

I think that the lights on module is the ones fitted to Telstra and some other vehicles, where the lights are always on.

That would be the Auto headlights.

This is the diagram for the VX Calais.
I don't thonk the Calais would have a "lights on" function. Just the auto function as in the diagram.
Note the light sensor for the auto headlights being part of the remote door lock RF sensor.

If your headlights come on the minute you turn on the ignition then you have what is known as Telstra/Government "headlights on with ignition on function" and if you wish to change this you simply remove the plastic dash cover( 2 screws) and pull the plug from the headlight switch, then drop the lower panel under the steer column and use the spare plug you will find there to replace the headlight plug.
