I also agree with those saying buy a modern small car.
At 19 I bought a 94 ED falcon, spent big money on turbo and go-fast bits, ending up being a money pit after about 2 years. Having to spend so much money on it when things broke. Ended up leaving it at my parents for a week and thought long and hard about what I was doing. Ended up selling it and buying an 08 Suzuki swift on a 20k loan, and I've worked out even with the $330/fortnight repayments, fuel, insurance and maintenance its STILL cheaper then what I was spending on my ED falcon per year.
23 now and have a 08 Swift as our main car, and a 99 VT which I've just picked up as a weekender.
