In this case, it'd be a little obvious if the last person to own this car was currently in hospital with shoulder/arm injurys.....

In SA, Transport SA have told me that registration has nothing to do with ownership of the vehicle. Thats just the registered operator.

Not sure why other states have it different.

It's under section 60 of the Road Safety Act here. It only ever refers to 'owner'. It could be open to interpretation.

    (3) For the purposes of this section owner means—

    (a) the owner or the person in whose name the motor vehicle was registered at the time
when the vehicle was being driven by the person about whom the information is sought
or at the time when the requirement is made; or

    (b) any person who had possession or control of the vehicle at either of those times; or
    (c) if the motor vehicle displayed a number plate at either of those times—

    (i) the person who, at the time at which the registration number borne by that
    number plate was last assigned
by the Corporation or the corresponding body
under a corresponding Act, was the person in whose name the motor
vehicle, to which that registration number was assigned, was registered
under this Act or a corresponding Act of the Commonwealth or of another
State or Territory of the Commonwealth, whether or not that
motor vehicle is the same as the motor vehicle about which information is
    sought; or

(ii) the person whose name is disclosed in the records kept by the Corporation or
the corresponding body under a corresponding Act as being entitled, or
last entitled, to use or possess that number plate at the time when the
vehicle was being driven by the person about whom the information is sought

I reckon it's just a damn shame that fence rail didn't take the heads off whoever was in the bloody thing.

What a shame - Mornies used to be a nice little town when I was there ('79,'80, '81) - pity the baseball bat wielding morons have taken over.

But isn't it strange - the coppers do so little when these bozos screw with the community, but look out if YOU were to take a pick handle to THESE oxygen wasters..... The bold text from the quote - "... type of people society has to deal with..." - maybe if "society" WAS allowed to "deal with" these pussies (who have to attack in numbers, but ****weak on their own), there might be a few less of them. The Police certainly don't seem to be too proactive in "dealing with them". Instead they keep making excuses of how there's "nothing they can do" - well, that is until you take matters into your own hands. There seems to be plenty they can do about it then! They crack down on the "vigilantes" soon enough.

(I know that won't seem fair VicCop, but we see / hear about this almost every day, and I have personally experienced it. Perps have all the rights in the world, victims have NONE.)

The thing is you can, not legally but i've sorted out alot of my own problems with troublesome tards and only once have the cops had me down at the station to talk about it and that was that just a talk (neighbour witness something they shouldn't have). Also a hell of alot of the time these scumbags won't even go to the police because a. if their mates found out they cried to the police they'd have no friends and b. they've already got themselves known to the police and get screwed over the moment they walk in.

also society is getting fed up with the way people are living their lives with the theory "i can do what ever i want im top ****, i don't have to show respect to anybody"

Definallty a shame there wasnt a head sitting in the drivers seat. One less air waster in the world. I dont see why police cant visit the last registered owners house, ask if the cars been sold or stolen, obviously if the owner is missing an arm we know its him...

are they doing finger printing or anything like that? if the area is like how has been stated then atleast one finger print is bound to be on system.

Sucks about your neighbours yard. Some people out there just need to be taught a lesson, some people just have no respect.

    Was this in Tanti?

I do not miss living in Mornington anymore. It ruined many a weekend when they came down to the Grand.

    Unbelievable...

You know, Funny thing is, 2 x Police cars, and 4 officers, all thought it was a joke....(Check this out....hey hey....His clothes are here..hahahahahaha) Were ones exact words in a high pitched loud voice and they all had a laugh before getting to business....
they tampered with the clothes, tried to open the door of the car, and ended up hanging the clothing on the ruins of the fence(still there now), I ended up leaving as i was fairly amazed at the lack of care for the homeowners standing 6ft away....I'm no cop, and I don't know how they are supposed to act, but to me, it looked very unprofessional and inconsiderate.
I could have been doing 5km above the speed limit on the way to work, and they would have been very professional!!
But these Louts demolish thousands of dollars of property and they don't give 2 sh!t's, Probably fed up with all the crap...???
Not Picking on the Boys in Blue, but from where I stood there was an ugly picture!

l dont know if Victoria has a different attitude to this type of crime, but what's wrong with a bit of fingerprinting? The car would be full of them, and idiots who drive or behave like this are bound to have a record. Checks of the registration records to confirm identity of last owner - does he have a record? Do fingerprints match his if recorded?

If there had been a fatality, al bit more might have automatically followed for the coroner. Wasn't the prang serious enough to investigate properly?

Chrisso, have u noticed on the sevice rd, and in illowa st, that the council or somebody, has layed some rough rock **** on the road.. to "slow" some cars down around the area... But i ahvent seen it in other streets.

Yeah... not the greatest place to have a kid growing up aye?

Just near the shops, you get wankers hooning up the road and more than a few "model" citizens around.

I still remember the night I got my ribs broken on your nature strip... lol

    Good times, good times. :p

Agree... people always fly around that road cause thast the only speed bump outside the school.

Also maybe a couple more speed bumps will get rid of some of those tools racing on pocket bikes. I can hear them from my place even!

Nah Havn't noticed the rock......That would just make the fools a drift pad!!
More speed humps is a good thought, but they all use these for starting Pad's for their 100m single peg burnouts!!

Maked me wanna bring out one of my toys........Put a few holes in their **** box's...give them something to think about when they get home.....
(Oh who put those Kool stickers on my car....Holy Sh!t, their real bullet holes:unsure:)

Jesterarts, those pcoket bikes come outa cooba crt.. the cops know where they come out of. but wont do **** about it.
I swerved at one lil **** the other day when i was going to the milk bar.

But why does robby drive only have ONE speed hump, but hardy st has abt 10 of them... its ****ing bull****.
When **** used to go down in Illowa street, the cops didnt want anything to do with it, because Mr Russell Ardley was in our street, and he got the peninsula man of the year or sum ****, coz of his work with un employed kids.... and it would look bad on him and his "projects"

Oh one more thing too, for the locals in our area, tyres have started being slashed in and around robby drive.

Gah i hate those little pocket bikes, some little prats on them damaged my car. I found out who they were but apparently with no proof nothing i could do. Fortunately i heard they did things to someones house in Tyabb and the homeowner took offence.

I used to hate going through Tanti, and i feel sorry for the very few decent folk who live there. Its similar to Frankston, theres some nice areas but one of my friends lives in a dodgy area and basically i cant take my car over there anymore for fear of it having stuff stolen, or broken into, or keyed, or kicked in, etc etc.
And the worst part is if i found out who did those sort of things and attempt to give them consequences i become the villian.
