The bootlock isn't actually turning the inner locking mechanism, so any advise on the less destructive way to get into the boot would be appreciated.

By not turning the inner locking mechanism, the key turns the boot lock 180 degrees, but it's not engaging the inside mechanism to release the latch..

This is on a VC Commodore, but I'm sure VB through to VL are identical in the boot lock area...

Ended up removing the back seat and undid the boot latch, using a few extension bars

Glad it was that "easy". Bet it took a while.

I reckon it took about 10 minutes....The hardest part, surprisingly was having the right amount of extension bars to do the job....

Originally I had them coming through the rear sear section but found using a rattle gun, there were too many so the vibration that a rattlegun relies on was soaked up by the length of the bars...I ended up using about a foot in length of extension bars and it worked a treat

Btw, i ended up having to find a spare key and luckily the car was still there. My rear parcel shelf (which i made) no longer wants to come out... ill start pplaning to install a boot latch now as it will be handy
