Anyone else experiencing long delays on parts for repairs?

The panel shop is waiting on a new rear bumper for my Redline wagon. I had the option to have the old bumper repaired which I wasn't keen on or get a new bumper. The damge was done in June and was told then that a new bumper would take until Oct/Nov to arrive but now the panel shop has been told April next year. Luckily The car can still be driven.

Getting car parts is being delayed right across the board with them all...

I've heard shipping containers are hard to get, delays in transit, where a ship has to wait a week before docking at each port...Container costs are going through the roof....I've heard $10K increases in the last 12 months alone...

So unfortunately

delays are part and parcel of life at the moment

Yup. In my job nearly all overseas freight seems to be delayed by at least 4-6 weeks at a minimum, and that’s only the shipping delays.

For items where there have been factory component shortages or labour/factory shutdown issues they can be delayed by up to 6 months past the regular lead time.

Yep. I only have to wait 3 months for mine to go in to the panel beaters.

That's what happens when you have parts made overseas....

Especially in demand stuff like bumpers...

We had our repairer get a new front bar for our Equinox within a week. Suppose it depends on whats around at the time

Wasn't that the reason for the Corona being synthesised/released accidently/on purpose maybe/by French designed/Chinese built research laboratories?
Disruptor for business/economic nuisance.

I don't know what to believe now.

I can understand shipping delays on parts from overseas suppliers but why would a rear bumper for a Redline wagon be coming from overseas?
