So I was waiting for some paint to dry just before (always fun) so I thought I would start planning out my boot install. I pull out all the carpet and look what I found: This is usually from the rear quarter window seal is it not? So I checked that out and found this: View attachment 48387 It looks like someone has cut it up for some reason! Also, my old VS didn't have this bar in the boot. Is it just extra support for towing or something like that? So...will I have to replace the window, or just the seal? I know there was another thread somewhere, but my search of 'boot leak' couldn't find it
umm im not too sure what that is.. i've seen that bar in a boot before but thought it was for towing also and didnt give it another thought. in the how-to section u'll find the write up on the rear window seals book leak thread  (dont know the actual name)
The bar in the boot is a brace. It is fitted when a heavy duty towbar is fitted. Without that brace, the car bends and you can't open the rear doors. The water could be coming from the 1/4 window, the picture you have with the seal cut is just the gutter, it shouldn't leak from there. It will usually leak at the bottom of the window.
VR/VS have very weak chassis. So **** that I can't shut the driver's door properly on an even ground. It never been in an accident either.
Thanks for that. I thought the bar might have been somehting like that. Re-sealed the window today so hopefully that problem is solved Here is the How-To thread if others need: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodore-how-s/35199-how-fix-vn-vs-boot-water-leak.html
