Ok so im looking for some advice on making my system sound just that bit better and tad louder, im not looking to spend thousands on it as i realy dont need to, heres what i have atm. Kenwood headunit, 4x RCA out USB etc Front - Sony xplod 150w or something Rear - Rockford Fosgate P163C 50w RMS Boot - 2x 12" Rockford fosgate P1 150w RMS 4OHM (i think) Pyle 1400w 2 channel amp running the subs Kenwood 420w 4 channel running speakers Ok so first of all, atm im planning on upgrading my front speakers to some rockgord fosgate P162S sometime soon, but apart from that i dunno what else i should do, would it benefit me to keep better amps? should i face my subs a certain direction? what can i do to get a bit more from this system? would it be worth going to an audio person and get them to tune it properly for me? i have both my subs behind the seat in my VS facing the rear of the car, would i be better off having them face forward? any advice appreciated.
what sort of music do you listen to most and are you just aiming for a round town sterio or somthing you can actualy brag about? both are easy without going into the thousands
i listen to a bit of everything but mainly hip hop and techno stuff with a fair bit of bass. i just want a bit more kick out of the system, something to brag about wouldnt be too bad lol
Make sure that the HPF on the 4channel is in use and set for a good frequency. This wil allow your door speakers to take more power if that they don't have any bass reaching them...you got subs so your doors shouldn't be making any bass....a good average is having it set to around about 125 hz and then make sure your bass amp is set to a LPF of around 125 also. You could turn your subs around and drop the seats down or centre down you will gain more volume in the cabin but lose a bit of quality. Make sure your subs are in parallel with each other and bridged on the amp. Getting some to tune the system wouldn't hurt but could be costly....
ive got the LPF and HPF on the amps working as best as i can to take bass out of the 6"s and treble out of the subs, i also have my headunit set to send 120hz to my front speakers, and about the same to the rears, problem is cause i dont have a dedicated sub pre-out on my headunit the subs run off the line out of the 4 channel amp which seems to run off my rear speakers, so when i change the HPF/LPF on my headunit for my rears it does it to my subs aswell. im happy with the power output of my 6" speakers front and rearm they go pretty hard for budget speakers especially the rockfords, i know the P1's are a budget sub but i think i should be able to get a bit more punch out of them, they seem to create more rattle than bass lol, with my system on half volume my boot can be heard rattling from 2 blocks away.
Have you considered a vented box that leans a little more towards SPL then extended response? You will lose quality again but gain volume over certain frequencies.
i have a vented box, im not sure what build they are but apparently they are made by some other company and they just seem to work realy well with rockford P1's, they have a large rectangle vent on the side of them. im not sure what SPL means.
