Please do not spend $200 on pioneer coaxial.

You can get some infinity , Polk or Hertz components at that price.

Put a passive slimline 8" subwoofer under the passenger seat. Good 6.5's have zero bass they're designed for mid and highs and you'll soon dislike the distorted bass or tinny-ness trying to tune it out.

I've always found the cheap Pioneer speakers fine, I thought getting some expensive ones might be better, If not necessary I will go with the $50 Pioneers like I have nearly all my driving years. In 30+ years I've never needed a sub, so unlikely to buy one now.. I need to fit speakers in the factory door space, are saying those you recommend will fit? Who sells these fancy speakers, if you don't mind me asking? I will see if they have a price online.

@harrop.senator I'm about to buy the Pioneer HU I posted. Are you saying that the $200 pioneers won't be much better than the $50 ones?

They fit straight in the door and position the tweeter in factory position.

Seriously man Holden's cheap and they moved the tweeter from the mid cone to the dash 20+ years ago.

You don't get the clarity with them together.

You've not had a subwoofer because you've had cheap "all rounders" the coaxial have slightly more bass then component.

Just also sound disgusting in comparison.

Factory Calais and statesmans have subs man I agree I don't want rattling panels and P player doof doof. But GOOD 6/6.5's do need something for the bass as they're a mid and a high. There's no low driver.

some are a little over the budget but good still and there's some lower.

I , Now this is an assumption. I don't believe you'll need over 60w rms in the speaker.

I'd go something 60-70+ RMS and run a 60-75 W RMS per channel amp. I always try to run at least 5-10w more speaker receiving capability then amp pushing capabilities for safety.

ive installed a few of those actives in stereos for people who didn't want subwoofers . Usually I do the rest of it , take one out of my ute plug it in , show them the difference and tell them to order one lol.

I already have an amp and don't really want to buy another as mine only had two months use before I removed it when selling the ute. I believe its about 40rms x2 but it was plenty loud enough in my old ute with $60 Pioneers.

Theyll be better then the $50 ones but not as good as $130 components WITH something for the bass.

I've not even ran multi way speakers in the rear for years I run components all round.

Holden runs multi ways in the rears and tweeters seperate in the front and has since vr. It's for a reason lol.

40w RMS will do fine with speakers .

I'd run some components and one of those active subs under or behind the seat. Amplifier is built in and has Equalizer knobs and subwoofer control on head unit.

Subs in my ute and senator are on like 30% gain at the amplifier and + or -1 on bass/subwoofer control on head unit.

A little bit of the right bass goes a long way.
