How do I go about getting a new key for the car? Are locksmiths able to do it or do I need to go to a Holden dealership? VT II Executive. Thanks.

you'll have to get all the locks changed and a new key and the transponder coded to the car.

dealer or locksmith job.

the security won't disable without the transponder coded to the car.

As others have written, a locksmith.
If you have the original paperwork for the car's delivery, the key code will be there. A locksmith can duplicate a key from that.
If not, a locksmith can get it from Holden, + plus a charge from Holden, which will be part of the cutting and programming.

Not sure how it works interstate but in Tas it's like Figjam said. Go to Holden with rego papers and they will sell you a key blank. They will have a locksmith who works for them. Holden will send the key cutting code to the locksmith direct. As for the transponder I can't be sure as I only looked into it to have a key replaced for my bus, not because it was lost or broken just quite worn out.

You don't have to change the locks. Go to Holden and get your BCM code and key code (all you need is rego papers to prove ownership) then go to this guy on ebay:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CUT-PRO...048372?hash=item33d8961c34:g:b3sAAOSwVTNZ4IFg

You send him your codes and he sends you a genuine brand new key, cut and coded within a few days along with instructions on how to pair it to the car (very simple). I did this for my VS for $100.
