i went over a gutter yesterday and i scraped really bad and bottomed out straight after i heard this really load tapping sound coming from under the car and i cant find what is casueing it
where about's did you scrape on the car? front? rear? is the tapping coming from the front or rear? is it defo a tapping noise and not a scraping noise?
yep just put it on some ramps and its the sounds like its the crank FML now what to do rebuild or 2eh hand engine
ive got a vr motor sitting here and im in vic My next question was going to be have you checked the sump for cracks, ive seen cars run over things and crack the sumps

Sometimes an exhaust leak can sound like a tapping noise coming from the engine.Does it do it when the engine is running, or only when the vehicle is moving.Bottoming out the car,it probably hit the exhaust system which can bugger the flange seals on the exhaust system and cause them to leak around the flanges or even at the manifolds.
nar sumps good not a dint or scratch on it and the exhaust good just a bit of a scratch on it its but the tapping sounds coming from the inside the sump so yea but i have the guy at the wreckers here he said he has got a good one for 400 with 3 months warranty carnt pass that up and i will do and the gaskets and stuff before i put it in. i am a bit pissed casue i just spent about 250 on fixing the cooling grrr
nar its right man my engine just died like a man doing donuts all i heard was a splatter snap and a crunch and the dash lit up pretty colors
racv came tow my car today but they wanted to try and get it started and when they hooked up there battory god it never heard metal grind so loud but its at home now and allready started pulling the motor out
