Hi all

My 04 VZ idles at about 350-400 rpm after it's warmed up. Is this normal? Seems a bit low to me. Anyone else's idle this low?

Cheers, Ryan

Too low mate, from memory 650-700 is the go. But this is set from the ECU, if anyone knows how to bump up an idle, I would like to know as well. If it was an air leak, it would be a rough idle, but I would be checking for air leaks first.

Hi Ryan
Just replaced my ECU - low idel was part of the problem. Reset your ECU, just disconnect your battery for maybe half an hour and reconnect. Yes also as stated above check all hoses for leaks. Keep us posted on what happens.

Lately my vz v6 2006 is being tricky. Car stalls, usually at signals, skow, uphill, downhill etc

I'
Are you in Jeddah or Mecca?
I'm in Riyadh. I did the following on my car so far:
1- replaced coil packs
2- replaced spark plugs
3- replaced MAF just to clear doubt
4- did check on injectors

haven't caught the trouble yet. As far as i know there are no leaks in the system. The car randomly stalls, runs rich, fuel smell can be smelled from exhaust tip, black soot at exhaust tip.

Any help is much appreciated.

Sounds like poor or no combustion in one or more cylinders, if you ask me. Maybe a wiring issue. Have you scanned it yet?

You need to check the plugs are actually firing. You can pull the coil pack out and turn the motor over and see if spark is being generated when you put it near the block, or put a plug in it and touch it to the block. Start with that.

Sorry I cannot help. I am in Jeddah.

They don't sell kits here. But you can buy all the parts super cheap in the industrial areas selling car parts. The springs and shocks actually come from Australia. Bani Malik is the best place in Jeddah, but similar stores can be found throughout KSA. You have to look for the Chevrolet sign on the door, and go in and ask. Someone always specialises in Lumina and Caprice.

Al Bulaid shops can get any Commodore part for you, no matter what it is. But they are a kind of official Chevrolet dealer selling only GM parts, so they often are quite pricey. Usually it is best to find other shops where they are selling aftermarket parts.

The best shop in Jeddah is Aldar, 0506691110, 0501206881. You can definitely buy a complete set of bushings, plus springs and shocks. Full suspension rebuild, make like new, costs SAR 3000 in parts. That is including new steering arms, swaybar links etc.
