sounds like the throttle body needs a good clean(can of carb cleaner does the trick but remove the throttle body from the car to make it easier), especially the IAC valve on the side of the throttle body. you can also try reseting the idle by disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds, then start the engine, rev @ 3000rpm for 10 seconds and let the throttle go, the idle will initially drop to about 1500rpm and then the ecu will reset the idle to approx 750rpm:yeah:

just give it a good rev for 10 seconds but hold it steady, one thing though, do it when the cars upto running temp. don't know about 70mm TB, i had one bored butthe butterfly they made was crap, made another myself but i didn't get taht quiet right either, it runs ok but it sticks a little when the throttle is closed. it was good for motorway driving, seemed to be using less throttle but it sucks when i do short stop start trips so i put my old one back on with a few mods to that. i've smoothed out the lip where the throttle body has been bored, knife edged the butterfly and thinned the shaft, all these mods probably only make a difference though when at WOT. you could always get the V8 throttle body, i hear they are only about $60 overthere and its 65mm Vs the V6 which is 60mm. the 70mm TB would be benificial ifyou get head work, bigger cam etc but i would suggest, a CAI with a sectioned off POD filter, headers, 2.5" exhaust and a retune first. theirs no end to what you can do, it depends on how much moola yo uwanna spend. possibly a LSD diff as these commy's have good lowdown torque and need a bit of grip

i must be ranting again:ranting:

nah its cool i like to read your rant  i currently got 2.5" cat back and got cai but yet to install aswell as a pod and was thinking of getting high flow cat and extractors. So that really makes a dif? cause big $$ to do it but will do it if i get $$ out of it thanx again

yep, PODs are good, but better when shielded from the hot air under the bonnet andi think the have a better throttle responce too but many will argu against??? do the mods and you will gain some economy and power then take to a specialist to get the chip done, then you will see a better improvement.

I've seen a stock standard VT S1 V8 straight from the dealeship put on the dyno and re-tuned nil mods what so ever, made some 8kw extra and more torque throughout the rev range. Holden tunes them for EPA pullution regulations, noise etc which of course will loose you some power. i don't know if it improved the economy of the car but i recon 90% of that comes from how you drive it anyway as long as you lookafter it and keep it serviced/tuned etc

Yep. Do exactly that. Mine does this occaisionally, simply due to the amount I play around with it, cold weather, which planets are aligned at the time, etc, etc. . . That method fixes it every time.

well did t/b and cleaned that elbow that connectes the t/b to manifold and its alot easier to get to speed (doesnt take as much pedal to get to same speed) as for idle trick i did that and it worked aswell made big rev when i put it into gear first time afta i reset idle but other than that   very happy thanx all for ur input:bow:
