Curerntly the monroe gt sport shocks i have are part #15-0567.

On the king springs website it lists the KHRL-20HD as a Lowered EHD spring for my 1988 holden commdore vl 3.0L sedan as a stiffer spring so hopefully that can should fix my problems.

Thinking about it, are my shocks even a shortened shock and are they the right shocks for my springs? or are there another monroe shock better suited?
I think from memory the last digits of the stand shock is 0565...so yours could be the shortened ones for the ultra low springs, I will check my vl paperwork on parts later and report back, you could google your number and find out in the meantime.

EHD is for carrying more weight and springs might be thicker with revised coil rates.
Vl's had problems with lowered springs falling out using standard height shockers thus the recommendation for shorter shocks, this mostly happened with the ultra lows........ some people with this issue just bought a 10mm nolathane spring base to avoid spring this.

If i need to go EHD springs to firm up the rear and reduce the amount of suspension movement i will do that as i do tend to take 2-3 passengers in the car but cant do that now as even with 2 people my tyres rub.

On the Monroe website it shows two different options i can choose and im not 100% sure myself if mine are the right shocks. Below is what it lists

HOLDEN Commodore LOWERED - 1988 models

78 to 93 - VB, VC, VH, VK, VL, VN, VP beam rear axle (with Police,Brock,FE2 or Equivalent Lowered Suspension), Sedan
Rear: 15-0566 - GT Gas w/- Reflex &/or 331049MM Monro-Matic Plus

HOLDEN Commodore SUPER LOW GT-SPORT - 1988 models
78 to 93 - VB, VC, VK, VH, VL, VN, VP, Sedan
Rear: 15-0567 - GT Gas w/- Reflex

Ok I have the old stock of shocks/numbers though still painted black like the current ones.

15-0566 is the standard length shock and the same number/shock is used for the FE2 2/3 cms KHRL-20.

Monroes lists the same shock number for standard and for their FE2 springs though they recommend to used the shortened shock which is the one below, if you can understand what I am trying to explain. Other spring companys list the same shocker number for standard and FE2 springs just like kings do.

The 15-0567 would be the shortened shock for the ultra low springs.

I had the same issue as your having when I did my VL and my other VC V8 using the KHRL- 20 and The KHRL-23 both using the same standard monroe gt gas reflex shocks,

I choose for a softer ride on the 15" factory calais alloys and the sle alloys to use the standard shock 15-0566, but if you want a stiffer ride with your issues go for the shortened 15-0567

thats what im currently running on my vl man the monroe 15-0567 shocks and doesnt feel as stiff as i want it to be and the rear bounces around alot with my 20's.

Is there a stiffer monroe shock i can go to?

A mate of mine said i can fit monroe gt sport wagon shocks on my vl part #15-0570 which will stiffen up my ride? is that a possibility?

I can't say for sure, I don't have a wagon and I am ok with my ride with stock alloys on both cars, I still think your 20" are the culprits to you not having a stiff ride, maybe best to see a specialist suspension place and see what they might be able to offer you. cheers

need to wait until melbs stupid lockdown is eased up then i can go somewhere and enquirer.

thats why i was thinking of leaving my current shocks in putting in a pair of the KHRL-20HD springs in to make the rear more stiff and possibly problem solved man

I think i might get the khrl-20hd to stiffen the rear and that should stop hopefully stop my scrubbing issue with my 20s

YEP NAAF ... All good I was thinking of the number, the wagon is KHPR-20HD and KHRL-24.

Either way with the HD the coils will be thicker and will raise spring height by 10mm thus not as low as the regular RL and possibly fix the OP issue of slight scrubbing being firmer and slightly taller,

But ride would like a kangaroo, hopping on every lil bump and deviation in road surface without weight as all HD springs do especially like in utes with no goods in the rear... without even talking about any steering issues with 20” rims affecting road handling for a car designed for 15” rims without aftermarket chassis mods..
