Well coolvncommodore your car was made 1408 units before mine 6/10/88. The production date would be very helpful - but wait until its a bit warmer a!! I'm tring to get the daily production rates of the old VN's and to find out the first serial number of the VN's and when it was made!!

Where do you find the exact date. When i went and looked before i looked on a badge in the engine bay. the one that says colour and stuff. it only says oct1988. no exact day

I found the date stamped in two places on mine, found it on the back of the door skin on the drivers door, and under the base of the rear seat. Both were printed on there. I figure door skins and seat cushions would be among the last parts of the car to go in, so the dates would be about the time it rolled off the production line.

Build plate says Aug 1988 on mine.

From memory my compliance plate is behind the a/c dryer - left (passengers) side firewall - can be hard to see.

With a s/n of 507462 would put the production date mid may 91

That's where mine is. It should state the exact day/month/year. Down in the bottom left hand side of that plate, I think....

Mine has a number of 412,431 for a 1990 VN. Lets see if you can find out what month mine was produced in.....

If they made around 70,000 per year your build date would be around April to May 90.

Close but mine back in february (23/2/1990 to be exact).

It is most likely that production slowed as time went on, shape started getting old and needed an update.
