Hi All I changed my oil and air filter today on my vx ecotec ( now I wish I didn't)!!!! I just fired her up at first everything sounded sweet but during warm up I could hear a grinding noise which is my exhaust rattling on the body I think really bad and now on lpg when its idling the rev needle slightly goes up then down up and down before it was steady. The biggest problem is when idling if you open up the throttle when the revs drop back down on ocassion it stall I have tested this 3 times. I switched to petrol and I could not duplicate the fault and the idle is smoother. Any ideas the only thing I did was change the oil and the air filter that is it, I have plugged in all the harness I disconnected etc. Surely it could not be the oil anyone have any ideas?
I highly doubt it would be the oil causing it, unless the wrong type of oil was used, but I cant see it causing the problems you describe like stalling etc. Id be double checking the connectors in the wiring harness that you say you unplugged and plugged in again.
I have checked all wiring connections etc and they all seem fine???? Is there something you can do like resetting the pcm so it relearns the idle I remeber I had to do this with a few of my old ls1 motors? Does this happen with the ecotecs and if so how do you go about it. Thanks
As it only seems on gas I would be looking at how ya done the air cleaner I'm guessing ya got a airleak and its leaning out that's why it stalls and has a rough idle.
check for a balance hose from the rear of the convertor to the air box lower section make sure it,s not dislodge from the air box or the rear of the convertor
