Over here in nz i have the option of a coby exhaust system its 1 5/8" tri y headers into a twin 2.5" catless system that merges into single 3" halfway back, my question being how much will the single rear half be restricting it as it is essentially downsizing am i correct?
I am only really looking for a good street setup so im guessing should be ok?

also on another note ive found some difilippo 1 3/4" headers at a wreckers for $550 which is bloody cheap as they retail for like 2k over here but they cant say how old they are but they came off a vx ss, they look pretty good with just a small amount of surface rust/discolour but how long would a set of headers like this last? i dont want to be putting them on and having to replace them as they are worn out.

any help please
Aaron

Twin 2 1/2" into single 3" is downsizing in volume, but not necessarily in flow. As exhaust gas gets further away from the engine, it cools down taking up less space, so going into a single 3" will actually help keep exhaust velocity up so it won't be restrictive at all.

With the Difillipo headers, hard to tell without actually looking at them. They last quite a few years years anyway, the only ting that will really affect them is the length of time they have been off the car. The longer they haven't been run, the more prone they are to cracking.

What about with a twin 2.5in cat back into twin 3in muffler section. Can anyone tell me is this a waste of time? Was given a twin 3in xforce muffler section that just bolts to existing 2.5in cat back (apparently)
Is there any benefits in doing this? Will it give a deeper not etc?

if it costs nothing to fit why not install it and find out for yourself

The twin 3" rear muffler? Probably be a bit louder and deeper and possibly drone more.

It will just drone a heap more since it's just an x-force. zero benefits.

Remus is a good system on European cars, never had much to do with them on a Commodore though. Be pretty quiet I would imagine.
