CV8Z Monaro
Hey Guys,

This is my first post on here but I have monitored the forums for awhile now. I finally have a reason to post here now! I just purchased a 05' CV8Z Monaro, I remember watching the unveiling of it many years ago and always knew I would get one someday. I've had her for a couple days now and enjoyed every second of driving. For an 8yr old car it still has alot of things I didn't find on my VE SV6. Also I was surprised with the exhaust note it produces, not very loud but very nice compared to some of the other stock 8's I have been in. Before I purchased it I was driving my mates 08' GTS around and I honestly have to say it really feels like the Monaro has a stronger low torque pull than the GTS?? However when you start playing around 4000+ the GTS quickly runs away. As of now it is completely stock except for some Chevy badges (which will shortly be coming off) and I have it booked in on Monday for a new exhaust. It will include headers, hi flow cats, and 2.5" to the rear, along with an undecided CAI kit and a mafless tune. I originally had my eyes on a 3" but the guys at the shop were confident that I would still have a strong kw gain without the ridiculously loud note from the 3" and also no drone on the highway at cruising speed. Has anybody else got a Monaro or similar with a similar setup and how did you find it? If not I'm just glad to finally be able to show off my new ride!! Also sorry for the lackluster pics, I will be taking better ones shortly along with a video of the exhaust comparisons.

Okay took a few more flattering pics this arvo (still no amazing), after a nice clean up. Was hoping to get the exhaust done tomorrow, but the parts aren't arriving until Monday by the sounds of it. I've got a very short kinda shitty video of the stock exhaust on youtube, and to be honest the video doesn't do it justice, the stock exhaust doesn't actually sound too bad at all.

Once the exhaust is on I will get another video up. Chasing down a good OTRCAI in the coming weeks, looking at a Ramjet for around $600. And shortly after a Mafless tune, not quite sure where to go after that but hopefully the hp gains should be quite prominent. Anyway enjoy the pics and if you have any advice feel free to shout out. Thanks guys

Yea agreed on the interior, something different but really nice none the less. And yea the piano black finish is great, had a look at your SSZ and I love it! It seems you've done the similar mods that I am after. Did you get the gains you were after? Yea the video of the exhaust wasn't great quality but you can hear it does have a nice rumble to it. Cheers Man!

Thanks Super Coach I just joined the club mate and yes its just the bluetooth and t/c. Cheers Andy and Corhijasna, I shopped around for awhile trying to find a decent Fusion gold. At this point and time I've just the exhaust getting done. I spoke to Ian at powertorque yesterday and he quoted me $3800 for a cam replacement along with a VCM Otr and a mafless tune. Almost cried when I realized I couldn't afford it haha. However I'm pretty sure I would of needed to get a new clutch for it anyway? I've heard from a few mates who got it done and they had to replace the clutch a week later because the stock one just couldn't handle it.

Stock clutch could handle for a while definatly depends on how it's driven. The old owner of mine had the standard clutch with cam for over a year before it started to have troubles (from what I'm told) although a hd clutch wouldn't go astray.

Yea I'm not very aggressive on the clutch most of the time, I'm stuck cruising in peak hour traffic in bris vegas right now though so that may take its toll. I've just got the exhaust fitted this afternoon and I am so happy with it! Once again I recorded on my phone so the quality isn't amazing, and also I didn't wanna piss the neighbours off too much haha. Enjoy
