Thought it was time I posted up my new ride. Parted ways with the SS a few months back as I needed something more suitable to my current needs. So I picked up this 2005 BA MkII XR6 Turbo ute. 6sp manual. Goes well, is a practical daily through the week and tows a bike trailer with 2 or 3 bikes on it and a tray full of riding/camping gear on the weekends. 100% stock standard and thats how I planned on leaving it. Fitted a twin 2.5" cat-back X-Force exhaust though just to give it a little better note. Would love to upgrade to a 4" dump and high flow cat but that will have to wait til I can afford the tune to go with it. lol. Looks wise Id love to lower it and throw some 20's on it but then that removes its practicality of driving a dirt corrugated roads that lead to most of the MX tracks around here. lol For now it how she sits
Very nice! Premium sound? - As for "100% stock standard", I don't how long that will last (don't talk to AirStrike!) - Although I seem to have done alright with leaving mine (engine) stock...
Haha. Cheers guys! Yeah some darker tints are definitely on the want list, especially once summer gets here. haha. Has the 6 stacker CD, but not colour screen so Im guessing just the standard sound with the option 6 stacker? Ive already installed the Ford AUX booster that you can get to allow ipod playing. lol. Have a 12" sub and amp to get hooked up shortly. And yeah haha, dunno how long the no mods thing would last. Already want the dump, cat and tune. Haha. Wont be doing anything to exxy to it though. Thinking about getting black GT stripes put up the sides soon. Nearly everyone I have mentioned it to says 'noooooooooo dont do it!' but I reckon they look really good and would give the white ute a bit less of a 'blank canvas' look. lol
Nice ute mate. Its your car do what you think looks good, stuff anyone else. Off topic but air strike, just curious has your car gone backwards in it's et? If so what et have you pulled with your 400 odd rwkw. Also what mph?
Nah took it out again but had problems with the auto, was running like 11.7 @ 120mph, had to back off on each gear change.
Oh ok, i can only imagine the traction losses on road tyres, would be a slippery little sucker. What sort of 60' are you running? Is that (400rwkw) reaching the limits of the auto transmission?
11.7 is pretty awesome. Your car is putting out some awesome power man. I took the ute to WSID a few weekends ago for their Sunday Race for Real event. Just went for shits and giggles with a big group of mates. Was my first ever time doing anything like that. lol. First run was a 15.8. Got it to a 15.0 @ 98mph after a few more runs. Thats without any real thrashing of my clutch etc on the starts and stuff coz as I said this is to be my reliable daily. Was a good fun day though. Gonna take my ZX6R down next month and see what it does on the 1/4
Woooooot i'm faster then a turbo Getting power from the turbos isn't expensive. You're just a flash tune away from 12's
Lol. I wasn't that disappointed. As I said it was my first ever time doing anything like that and when I say I didn't thrash it I really mean I didn't thrash it. Street tyres, no pre-run burnout/wheel spin after rolling through the water, no limiter bashing waiting for the green, in fact barely even a full on clutch drop on my starts, moreso eased off the line like an old granny. Lol. 100% stock ute that's my daily driver with 190,000km on it. I wasn't there with the aim of coming home with slip times to brag about. Haha.
Yeah that got explained to me on my last run. Prior to that I didn't really think about it/know you were allowed to do it. lol
If you ever don't want that 6 speed il take it off your hands Ute looks good! How does it compare up to the ss?
Haha. Think ill be hanging onto the 6sp lol Very different to drive then the SS. I do miss the sounds of the V8. And the low rev torque. But once you get that turbo working the speedo just climbs quicker then the SS. Lol
