Hi Mace, will this work on a VR balancer?

3 jaw puller should be a pretty standard tool and there's nothing special about Commo balancers, I just use a $30 one from ebay and it works great.

The bolt one destroyed my last balancer and it was a garage that took it off. I even asked him if he had the special puller and he said he had one that was a good one. he showed my balancer to me wrecked and said it was a bastard to get off. Needless to say I was up for a new pulley, with the current one less than two years old. Few people have said use a bolt one and clean the holes, made no difference to mine it was still trashed. Fortunately it was starting to make a noise every few mins and I suspected it was going to fail at some point, so I already had replacement. However, had I known he was going to wreck it I would have just used my three jaw and wrecked the vulcanising and not ripped the bolt holes apart using a bolt puller.

Looks like the Alloytec uses an LS style balancer with spokes, and the hooks on this remover sit behind the spokes, so would say this won't work for a VR.

Yeah mine has three or four slots in the centre steel part that can use a leg puller, like the one above. There used to be a few on eBay but they are not listed anymore. Mace doesn't list the old Buick puller for hire anymore either. I was hoping it was the same thing but seems it different. I have the ute at a garage now anyway who has the proper Buick puller. I would like to own the tool myself if I could save me having to book it in with the one place I know has the right tool for the job.
