SSV Series II Sedan Manual & a VK in the build
Hello earlier Commodore owners.

I have made the rather rash decision and bought myself a VK.

To make matters worse, it has no engine, but has a 3 speed auto. The front bar has been taken off as well as its headlights. The interior looks like it has been used by the local council for a public refuge, and the bonnet and boot have black overspray where someone has decided that, that would be the best place to do some spray painting.

However, all of this can be disregarded, as the plan for this little red car is simple, the moto that will lead the way is just as simple

"Because Race Car"

For those of you that have the displeasure of meeting me will know my SSV, if not please follow this link

This build timeline is in excess of 12 months,

Here are the headlines

3.5" cat back, twin double outlets TBC
Fuel system: Pump & Surge TBA, Relocate tank to boot.
Full braided lines and alloy connectors (where possible)
Alloy radiator

Transmission....

Either a Powerglide or Turbo400, leaning more towards the Powerglide
Ratios undecided. for some reason I want a 3 speed kinda seems appropriate being the car came with a Trimatic box lol.

3000-3500 stall

Body....

Shave door handels & delete the boot lock to install poppers
Smooth engine bay
Remove door plastic stuff, not sure what they are called.
Install Full HDT Group 3 Body kit
Colour is a secret haha, but for those that know me, you should have a good idea.

Wheels & Rubber....

The ones that are on the car, I like, but i'm thinking wider will be required, still not sure yet.

Interior....

Remove the whole thing and start again
Re-card the doors with new material
Replace head lining
Replace carpet
Remove front and rear seats replace with buckets
Install modern instruments to keep track of whats happening under the hood, not sure this original stuff will be up to the task

Suspension....

Mix of Whiteline, Pedders, & custom fabrication

Brakes....
VY - VZ HSV calipers front & rear
DBA Rotors

Diff....

9" Locker

I've probably missed a whole bunch of stuff, but you get the main idea. Good news is Zero rust which I'm super surprised about.

As always your input is welcomed.

Cheers

Dave

P.S. photos to come

Sounds sweet Macey. So its going to be a dedicated track car or a barely legal street and strip car?

Love the VK's. Convinced my mum to buy me one with a 308 in it when i got my P's. Fun times.....

Hurry up and get everything and have it built by next thursday. These long, drawn out builds arent as entertaining lol

Lol ^^
I'll be going as fast as possible, I would like to get it done sooner so I can go for a blast. The reality however works to a different timeline.

It will be a great build, I hope you have the patience to join the journey.

Cheers

I'll be following. why did you go for the LSX454? appart from being able to tell people you have a 454 in a VK lol. what about a LSX376 set up for boost from a nice twin tubo setup? LSX454 with a massive Whipple? 2000hp weapon from Nelson Race Engines? 253?

Originally, I wanted a LSX376. After looking into it, I decided that the advantages over a LS3 where not significant enough to warrant the additional investment. Plus smaller LS engines are showing up in allot of older style Commodores, dare I say common place now.

The plan for this car is Strip, and burnout shows. I have seen a Chev Big Block 454 in a VK, so the LSX454 seems like a perfect next step.
N/A all the way for this build... Raw, loud and pure.
