Hey guys just a quick question, is it still safe to machine the rotors on my VY R8. They are now 25mm from 32mm at new. Or should I just change them, also what do you guys recommend. Any thoughts would be great.

How much does it cost to machine them? If it's a bit expensive try go against some new rotors and see what a little more money can get - basing on that you've still got standard rotors.

The minimum thickness should be stamped on them. Beware you loose about 0.5mm skimming. If they've worn that much it's probably time to replace them.

If you decide to replace them, (which is what I would recommend as well) I can do you a good deal on new rotors. Standard or slotted or my custom curve slotted rotors.

No I got the HSV Harrop brakes, I just want to know if it's still safe to machine if 7mm is already gone.

It costs about $100 to machine all 4. Naaf what brand are your rotors by the way and do you supply cross drilled by any chance?

Rotors in dba4000 will cost me around $1000 all 4.

I'll get a price on them on Monday. What size rotors do you have?

Picture below of the rotors I do on our Senator

I think you are already 3mm under size, believe the min thickness is 28mm and most people only usually get one machine out of the rotors before needing replacement.
So basically 2 sets of pads to one set of rotors.

The Harrop kits have a few different part numbers depending on which kit. The most common fronts are DB1933 but could be a DB1955 if its the Monster kit. Rears are most commonly DB1355 but as previously they could also be a DB1356.

If you have the VY GTS 4 pots which are the AP caliber its a DB1937 and 1938.

I think you can still use the bendix website to find out. Not sure if they still let non trade use it though...

And Fat Moe your rotors are cross drilled now - I didn't think you could machine any slotted or drilled rotors?

I could be wrong but the minimum thicknes of a 330mm Performance Rotor & 343mm Harrop Premium/4piston Rotor(32mm originally for both...) is 28mm... so @ 25mm you should not be machining them any more but replace them.
