Had a new muffler put on the VZ SS yesterday, it was a local exhaust fitter said it was a MagnaFlow 7” round, which means nothing to me as I’m not real car savvy, I have a Lukey twin 2.5” full system, so I was thinking the MagnaFlow was a range of Lukey muffler, which it clearly isn’t, what’s the thoughts on MagnaFlow? I’ve never heard of them before, decent? Was $350 fitted.

Drone has quiet down a bit, was doing my head in, growl is still there but not as loud, so pleased with it so far.

Lukey is Australian, Magnaflow is an American brand and has been around since the original muscle car era.

Very well-regarded product.

(So is Lukey for that matter)

Yeah MagnaFlow is new to me, was reading their American site last night.

Muffler seems alright, it’s definitely helped with drone & volume isn’t as aggressive either.

Was reading mufflers (aftermarket) only really last 2 or 3 years until they start to get louder & drone again.

It's probably actually "Megaflow" which is a style of straight through muffler design that Lukey, Redback and the other aussie muffler brands use, it's a clever marketing scheme as people associate Magnaflow as quality so they tried to use the name to trick your brain into that association of buying an expensive quality product. This is what 90% of exhaust shops keep on the shelf as the wholesale buy price is quite low and they are decent quality units for most applications.

Genuine Magnaflow mufflers are quite expensive and also US made, it's very unlikely you'd get anything magnaflow supplied and fitted for $350, I can barely buy magnaflow mufflers at trade price for less than $250-280 each with the current AUD to USD exchange rates.

You’re probably right, I just Googled it, fair chance it is what you’ve said, **** I’m useless.

haha it's an easy mistake to make, hence why they called it that. It plays on your brain.

This is why marketing experts are paid the big bucks.

Nothing wrong with Megaflow, I run them on my cars, they are solidly built glasspacked straight through mufflers at a good price, and you can get them in mild steel, aluminised, stainless etc to fit most vehicles.

Bare in mind being glasspacked mufflers the sound of the exhaust will change over the next 500-1000km as the fibreglass packing inside the muffler will start to break in with a few decent heat cycles, generally they start to sound even better as they break in and usually get a couple of db louder.
