haha it's an easy mistake to make, hence why they called it that. It plays on your brain.

This is why marketing experts are paid the big bucks.

Nothing wrong with Megaflow, I run them on my cars, they are solidly built glasspacked straight through mufflers at a good price, and you can get them in mild steel, aluminised, stainless etc to fit most vehicles.

Bare in mind being glasspacked mufflers the sound of the exhaust will change over the next 500-1000km as the fibreglass packing inside the muffler will start to break in with a few decent heat cycles, generally they start to sound even better as they break in and usually get a couple of db louder.
Yeah it’s stainless, read last night mufflers (aftermarket) usually last around 2 to 3 years before they become louder & drone, I had this put on quiet it down because **** it was loud, the drone alone was doing my head in & the bark on it was nuts!

Yeah I’ve never had an interest in what’s under the bonnet, just love Holdens, but now with some time on my hands I’m just taking more of an interest in it all.

Yep, thats the downside of straight through mufflers.

The fibreglass packing can only take a certain amount of heat cycles before it starts to breakdown and decompose, and when the glass packing is gone you have big open areas within the muffler that resonance can build up and obviously as a result of the glass packing not being able to absorb the pulses the volume will go right up.

That being said, I find these days that they tend to last a lot longer than they used to. Most glass pack mufflers will give at least 10 years of service life before they start to break down the packing these days. That being said it comes down to how the car is used.

Lots of short trips means more moisture build up inside the mufflers, which degrades the glass packing and also all the steel components of the exhaust rust quicker.

Also catalytic converters have really helped fibreglass packed mufflers last longer as they absorb a bulk of the exhuast heat which means that the fibreglass isn't getting as cooked as the exhaust gas passes over it. Generally people who have de-catted their cars find the mufflers tend to wear faster.

Yeah right, yeah I have a full Lukey system, twin 2.5”, had it on a bit over 10 years maybe, ute is used around town mainly & the VF Redline II is the outta town vehicle.

I’m looking around now for some Holden or Holden/HSV replica rims to put on the VZ SS, have 19’s in there at the moment, again maybe 10 or so years old, but rough looking so I’d like to grab another set to put on, tyres aren’t even 12 months old so I’ll just have them swapped into new rims.

Recently had the ute lid, driver door, front bumper, both side mirrors resprayed in Quicksilver, looking brand new again, gave the headlights a clean up also, bought in ‘08 I think, has just over 270XXX on it.
