Will that mean its running lean to get the extra kw of power? Will it fry the motor?
No possibility of it leaning out as there’s no extra air being added, it’s the same volume of air as it’s always been, controlled by the MAF sensor.
As long as you dont have untuned forced induction there’s no way it will lean out with these simple bolt ons.
It’s just not possible for it to cook the engine, think of it as an extension of the intake runners and not as a piece of wood between your manifold.

So the Plenum one is a waste of time or does it give you more benefit ?

Manifold spacer does a couple of things.

Firstly it acts as an insulator which helps keep the air cooler (greater density) which will have a positive impact on both power and economy.

Secondly it alters the runner length. Longer runners are good for torque as ram affect is increased. Just look up single plane vs dual plane manifold on google and you’ll quickly understand the general concepts of runner length, runner shape/size and plenum volume (which is where the plenum spacer comes into the picture).

Personally, the manifold spacer is enough, I wouldn’t bother with the plenum spacer unless you’ve got or are getting a CAI as you’ll get a sweeter induction sound :)

Why didn't Holden make them standard like that in the first place, they spend thousands on engineering the motor why not add them in the first place.

Holdens main goal wasn’t performance, it was about dollars saved in research and development, the ecotec has spanned VS-VY, and basically nothing changed. The whole concept was “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
Their main performance oriented engine was in the SS and the Super6

Really the goal with Holden was “if people want a fast car they shouldn’t get an aspirated V6”

So your saying if you want the extra power then just buy a turbo 6 or V8. Straight 6 was for Sunday driving. My car is on LPG so not really bothered with economy, nice chat fellows I might look into it now I know more thanks.
