Ive got an auto but use the tiptronic almost 24/7, wishing I had got a manual but was offered a really good deal on the car I bought :)

Get a manual. The autos in the VE are trash imo.

Well my wife would not let me buy an auto! She insisted on the manual.

Must say, after spending lots of time in both I do not like the Holden auto. Seemed to take a long time to respond to throttle inputs, does not downshift quickly when braking and does not hold gears at higher revs. I much preferred the Ford auto.

Indeed :)

Don't know about not getting it to shift when you want to though. I can bang the auto down 3 gears anytime and it does it reasonably quick and throws in a rev while doing so (Perhaps the Bosch ECU in the V6 works a tad better than the V8)

Have Holden started using the TR6060 (ala W427, all new HSVs, all Fords) M6 box yet? It's an AWESOME gear box. I would recommend it to anyone who like to drive over the auto.

I enjoy driving the 6spd tiptronic in manual mode but prolly would of gone a manual if it was only me driving it.

*sigh* in the same boat. My wife has an auto only licence....not complaining though, I love driving the SS anyway.
