manual steering rack into vr?

Hey,
I've been looking at putting a VL manual steering rack into my VR.

So at this point it appears I need a VL manual steering rack(duh)
A VL intermediate(I think its called) bar.
And use my existing vr tie rod ends.

Apparently I have to use the top of the bar in my VR and the bottom of the VL bar.

Is this a big job?

Will there be any problem with the SRS?

Is it hard to remove the power steering pump, reservoir and pipes?

Will it be impossible to drive?

Has anybody done this mod and maybe have any tips?

I don't think I've missed anything, if I have please let me know.

Oh yeh, also. How long will it take?

I'd have to ask why do it? You may also find that its not legal as all Commodore VRs had power steering.

I believe its legal as long as the reservoir and all lines are removed.

The RTA frowns upon fluid leaking on the road.

yeah but why do it. it will be harder to sell and be worth less and cost a bomb to do.

IF the VL rack is a straight swap, and the immediate shaft will mate onto your VS column, it will be a piece of **** to do, about 3-4 hours if your doing it at home. But i doubt the VL immediate shaft will mate up with the VS column

Apparently u knock the pin out of the bottom uni joint in both shafts, and mate the square vl bottom with the vr/vs top.
The reason I wanna do it coz I have replaced pump and reservoir 2 yrs ago.
And since then put 2 new seal kits thru it.

And its leaking AGAIN.

Also I don't ever plan on selling the car.
