Hi guys, lately i've noticed occasionly 1-2 has been hard to select like it needs to be pushed fairly hard to engage, clutch is fully depressed... then let's say i drive a few hours later it will be running fine. it's happened a few times in the last couple of weeks, i didn't really worry about it but now i was driving and as i shifted into 4th with the clutch fully pressed in it made a grinding sound, before i even released the clutch..
is this a sign of something? worn clutch maybe? the car doesn't slip at all as has constant power, also i get a similar grinding noise when taking it past 4k rpm.
also had a major service only 1000kms ago.

yep, was charged for it anyway haha. also 'changed clutch/brake fluid' in the service book has been crossed so i assume that's been done too.

You may have to add another 500ml via the reverse switch hole as this can help solve a gearbox issue

also after doing it again last night, it turns out the 4th gear grind was me actually grinding past reverse by accident :\ i haven't damaged anything have i haha?

probaly not, but if you dont get this looked at you could ruin syncros and I know Getrag gear boxes are not cheap to rebuild,

If you had a workshop work servise the gearbox and now there is an issue, Im sure they would be happy to have a quick look for free.

At least that way if something goes wrong later, you have at least told them there was an issue after they touched it.

Hey mate about the gear selecting, I had a similar issue with my vt. It would only go into gear after holding it flat at the end of gear for a second or two. Turned out to be rods and bushes in the gearbox, quick cheap fix, this may be a similar issue, if not could be the solenoids. As for a mechanic, a simple look and check is free. If they try and charge you for looking to tell them to jump. My mechanic notifies if he finds an issue when checking over my car, and If I give the go ahead be fixes it while he has it instead of me picking it up and bringing it back. Hope this post helps

I dont know a garage that will diagnose an issue for free haha

Do you expect knowledge and labor for nothing?
