Hey guys, long time viewer first time poster.

I recently picked up a 2001 Manual VU and have been slowly fixing it up. It has 288,000km so it's almost on its last legs but I'm fixing her up as much as I can.

I'm having a problem with the revs dropping very slowly with the clutch in and in neutral. I recently replaced the whole throttle body assembly (including IAC and TPS) and purge solenoid and it only made it slightly better.

When revving the car to 3k rpm it will drop fairly quick until it gets to 2k then it will very slowly go back to idle. Not only does this sound annoying but it makes me look like a bad driver!!

Recently I discovered the engine warning light globe had actually been taken out. I scanned the car for codes and got a long list of automatic transmission codes. At first this made me think the car had been converted to manual and the harness or ecu wasn't switched over but after checking the compliance plate I know it was a factory manual.

So that made me think , maybe the last guy accidentally put an auto ecu instead of manual? But they have different pins right?? The code printed on the ECU reads:
16269208 DKDC Service number : 09356445
I have found these exact numbers being sold as both auto and manual ECUs. How do I tell the difference??!!

Anyways, got the Ute on the hoist and hd a look at the transmission for any signs of an auto loom and there's no loose plugs anywhere! Why am I getting these codes!!

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Can send video example of my issue through FB or other social media.

Cheers
-James

Although they use the same model PCM (ecu) there are differences in the tune and it looks like that PCM is for an auto which would explain why you are getting all the fault codes, the critical code you are looking at is the 4 letter code (DKDC) and you would be wanting the PCM with the code DMTY 92108384 service number 16269020. The idle problem will also most likely be related to the PCM problem.

Thankyou heaps @immortality I was told by a mate that the auto ecu shouldn't even fit so will I need to rewire it to the new ecu?

Nahh, PCM's are the same, just the tunes inside that are different.

The other problem you will have is the fact the PCM needs to be linked to the BCM or it won't run because the security system will disable it. One option would be to get a hold of a PCM with the security disabled or you will need to take the vehicle and PCM to a Holden dealer to get them linked.

It's not on my list so I can't confirm unfortunately. If the seller will confirm it's manual and will accept a return if it not it may be an option.

@immortality just been searching the interwebs for that exact model with no success. The most reoccurring manual pcm seems to be the 16269248 DMTY

I have 2 listings for that PCM, one manual and one auto. There are slight differences though.

DMTY 92108762 service number 16269248 (auto)
DMTY 92108378 service number 16269248 (manual)
