Sure but the manufacturer needs to account for all different users to maintain the most optimal tune for emissions which includes baro compensation.
Having driven older models which don't have baro compensation and going skiing and feeling the car start to run worse as you climb higher up the mountain I would have been happier had the car had the MAP sensor fitted.
