Cars were not flagged in the Warranty system until the day following the recall announcement. It is likely that your car will be affected. It is on every VF ever made prior to May 22.....

Should dealers do this fix before New car handover?

Going by the Vin numbers it looks like our wagon should of been fixed? I havent seen any sign of a sticker anywhere? Do they still put a sticker some where?

Pretty stupid if they didnt do it prior to handover.

    cheers

Just wondering if any members have received recall letters. I received a letter from Holden about my roadside assistance expiry but no recall. Looking at the VIN range I suspect my VF is not affected as it is just before the start of the VIN range.

Think the best way to clear this up. Next service get it checked regardless of build date. Own a vf, get it checked. Simples

Bloody marvellous....I bet GMH would not do a recall if they left a nut on top of a piston....to costly to pull a motor out of 42000 commodores....just leave it and hope for the best that it will dissolve in time with the heat of the motor.

All they want to do is fly the flag and get publicity with a recall of a simple fix with duct tape....shows that they are customer concerned and related to the purchaser....in all my born days I have never seen a recall on any car for a major defect on the motor, transmission or diff....it is only fiddly things the apprentice can fix at the apprentice's first years hourly rate of pay....BOO HOO.

The onus is on the owner to make sure the recall has been done not a dealer. Your rant is noted though, boo hoo?

Recalls are safety items, hence the recent seat belt and wiper issues are recalls.
A 'nut on a piston' would likely not be a safety issue and they would issue a technical line to the dealers to address it. Also why in all your born days you've not seen a recall on a motor, trans or diff.
I don't know why you are dissing Holden here, I think they have been very upfront and handled these issues positively.
Even the early LS1 piston slap issues were done under tech line fixes.

Did you contact your dealer and ask them?
They used to use stickers for recalls, not sure about now.
