I'm looking for people to give opinions of there experience using a set of :

    235/40/R18 Maxxis MA-Z1 Tyres.

I've read some good reviews around the internet, eg off there site and another site, however, i would like to know what you guys think?

Can get them with my rims / tyre package for about 160 a tyre i think... cause i worked out my rims are worth 1200...

The Z1 are meant to be one of the best tyres, it did well in the Wheels test. I mean for an average $220 as compared to 350-400 for Eagle Revspecs etc, its just not work the eagles in my opinion. I mean yeah, we'd all love Continental , then again if we could afford those we wouldn't be driving a Holden. Nankang are very cheap, Sumitomo & Yokahamas is another good one to look at. I mean even Wanli tyres are good, excellent grip but come out of south china and last a 3rd of the time of good tyres. Make sure they are not selling you the Maxxis MAV-1, they are shiite.

    I've used Maxxis aswell before.

There no pirellis or anything, but for 1/4 of the cost they are awesome. Never once lost grip, and you's know how i drive.

I have the Ziex's on now that vxcalais_01 has.

Can't really say tyre life, my rears last a month or 2, then i put the fronts on the back, and get new front ones.

More in answer to minux more than anyone, MA-V1 were rather crap but the Z1's are pretty good, like steathly said if you want tyres almost as good as pirelli's but don't want to pay the price IMO the next best thing are the Z1's.

I got MA-Z1 235/40/18's on my car and had done about 45000km before they needed replacing. Great tyre for the wet, and yes they will have more road noise than standard size tyres (more tyre touching ground = more noise) but not much at all, and if your like me than your stereo will drown out the world anyway :whistling.

I will definately buy these tyres again and again. Never had a problem with traction, not even in the rain (and i give them a workout, no burnouts though).

Well ive got the MA-V1 tyres on my car. They grip really well, never lost traction, they handle well, and theie wear is excellent from my experience.
I've had mine (235/40/18) for onver 12 months now and have done around 25000 since having them, and they havent worn unevenly and they still have heaps of tread left. From my own personal experience and also from talkin with a few different tyre fitters, there only problem is that the sidewalls are not the strongest.
Ive had to replace 1 before, because the old girl drive through a small pothole(so she claims) and the wall didnt take it and started to bulge out. Had to replace it.
When i got them originally they were $180 a tyre but u can get them for about $210-220 most places. Any more and your paying too much, go elsehwere.

I bought Maxxis Z 20 in rims and succeeded in getting just on 50K out of them with a 450 HP VE SS, I then went to Yokie Advant series that they use on the 63 AMG standard and I still have them on my car now and am closing in on 42K s and will be replacing by end of January with the Maxxis Z series, and I have no complaints about the Maxxis, they handled the wet, road noise and handled well also, went to the advants to try traction etc but would rather use the Maxxis, I did pay $300 each a year ago but hopefully will be cheaper thanks to our dollar,
    anyway hope that helps everyone...

    Cheers
    Steve

I had these in 255/40/ZR17 on my 260+rwkw 180sx and found them extremely grippy. I'd definitely get them again if the price was good.
