Melling oil pump leak

Hey guys I’ve had some trouble with a Mellings pump ment to be high flow for the ls1 2 goes at installation 1st attempt could not prime (pick up was the issue) second go finally got pressure to an aftermarket gauge at the back of the heads only reading 30psi I will be checking what the computer psi read next weekend My main question is while I was priming it there is a fair amount of oil that I’m not quite sure if it coming out the back on the crank or if it’s just a return that may come out there if anyone has had an issue or know about this please let me know any input will be appreciated cheers
