That's one of the reasons we wanted to do it, just to see if it works and how well it works. It drives, and was pretty sluggish but that was with no vac advance hooked up. After the vac advance was hooked up it we tried it on our skid pad and loved 2nd gear, but only on about 5000rpm lol, goes into 3rd but doesn't get the revs up. Still the carby hasn't been played with yet either so it could be all up **** creek, but it does run ok when it's warmed up (no choke) so may be ok.

Bought a Crow 4503 cam for it, which is bigger then the cam I have in the 308 lol. Will give it a shot after the defect is cleared.

Changed the bonnet and chucked a stock cleaner on. Bonnet hit the cleaner just b4 it latches, so just had to hit it out a bit and it now shuts.

Definitely should work then coz yeah this one would fit perfect if it was even 10mm lower.

Hey ur a quaddy guru lol....the car starts fine, but doesn't idle to good until it's warm, but instead of just stalling like a normal car, it backfires thru the carb and stops. Took it for a spin and the throttle response is wicked, just can't mash the pedal coz it backfires and carries on until ya take ya foot off. It's ok if ya don't mash it.

What would be the go there? I have the timing set at about 8 degrees which is what the book recommends for a carby motor, dunno bout the EFI cam tho. Could it be getting to much fuel? Do ya rekon it sounds like sumfin a dyno tune would sort out? Just don't wanna go pay $120 to go on the dyno if he can't sort out the problem. I could get a vid if that would help??

yeah i reckon its just a tune. if you got no choke hooked up then your gonna have to deal with a 5-6 minute warm up period, but i reckon the carrying on part when you put your foot down is the secondarys screw being a tad too loose.

you gotta hold that blade screw part with a screwdriver while you loosen off the torx screw part. then turn the blade screw clock wise for about 1/4 of a turn. then tighten up the torx screw. DONT LET GO OF THE BLADE PART!!! lol, of itll spin off and you will have no idea how tight you need it.

Had a look at the timing again and it seems it must have been bumped b4 the dizzy was tightened last time coz the timing was retarded, like -2 or sumfin. Redone it, set it to about 8-10 degrees and now we're good! It's pretty responsive off the line, altho it's a slug compared to the 308. Doesn't really put ya back into the seat as much as the 308 either, the 308 just about pulls the trailing arms off going into 2nd haha.

Not meaning to interrupt this thread and just asking a general question and yea as my name suggests I don't have a commodore but wb tonner but I've been trying to figure out how to attach a nice big round chrome air cleaner to my varajet carby cause all the cleaners I find have a round manifold connection where as my carby has got a rectangular opening. Is there something I can buy to make it fix on or do I have to find a cleaner with a rectangular manifold? Thought id ask you guys cause you seem to know some stuff.

DANNY8 mate your wagons looks great you seem to know what your doing there.

Yeah we done the same thing on our old wagon. Used the original base, with the chrome top on it. Also extended the bolt to fit 3 cleaners on it so we could poke it through the bonnet lol. Didn't look to bad on the outside haha.

Not much of an update on me wagz.....it's parked away in the shed collecting dust. Building a new motor for it. What started out as sending the crank to Miltons in Adelaide to get reground has now ended up with them building me a new motor lol. Took me crank there first, then when I decided to get them to put it together I took me block down. Then decided to take my ACL flat tops, A9L rods and all me goodies there as well.....well now I'll be bringing a lot of that home as my block was already 40thou (thought it was std) so bought another block (this one is std) for them to continue with, and yeah now they're building that using my 304 crank, ARP rod bolts and main studs, A9L rods, ROSS forged pistons, will be zero decked, bored, honed, line honed, balanced, rods resized, crane F280 solid cam, crane springs, retainers and collets, and roller rockers (not sure on brand, they're choosing everything) with bigger studs.

Hopefully should crack my goal of 250rwkw, and as they're building it, it shouldn't break when we're belting it! Sam rekons the motor should make around 450-480hp.

Went for a spin to Miltons 2day to check up on me motor. It's coming along good. Most bits have rocked up.

    That's the plan mate! lol

Just priced up an ASR sump, Powerbond race balancer and a Magnum flexplate for it, will get those bits over the next few weeks. Also a mate has converted his VK to methanol and is getting rid of his ULP fuel system so will grab that off him in a few weeks too! His donk puts out more then mine will so it will definitely be sufficient.
