Airbag reset tool arrived yesterday (at the early end of the delivery timeframe )

Does what it says on the box.....airbag light be gone !

But, a new issue has raised its head. Driver's front window is in the fully down position and won't go up

Pissed off coz the seller only replaced it a few weeks before sale.

Has power but no movement. I've had the door card off but can't see any issues with anything in particular.

Needs more investigation which I don't have time for at the moment.....hopefully just an issue with a snagged cable.

Had a crack at the paint today.

Wash, clay, compound, polish & wax.....8 hours later.

The roof was the worst.....like someone had washed it with a bucket of sand.

After.....far from perfect but much better.

I don't have the tool or the product to go harder on it.

So much crap removed with the clay bar.....but no pic of that......doubt it has been cayed in its life.

Lots of scratches and scrapes around the body that were quite noticeable have now become good luck finding them unless you know where they are.

Need to get some Autosol on the chrome pieces and then find something to dress the exterior black plastics. They aren't smooth so Mothers Naturally Black won't get a start for these.

P.S. excuse the filth on the VE....had a weekend away and haven't had time to wash it yet.

Seconded, I've used it on our Kia's black bumpers and worked a treat.

Looks nice in the sun but I see in your pictures above that the drivers window is still down

Is it still stuck open?


From the few videos I've seen, it seems like a having windows stuck closed or open is common problem on these models.
It also seems like pounding on the door, near the window motor, gets things working again,.. for a while

Seems the lubricant on the window channels and cables can get washed or dries out while the motor clags up with crud...
I'm sure you've researched it but in case you haven't seen these videos, i'll drop them here:

Yep.....seen all those and more.

The regulator (with motor) was purchased new in August by the seller (receipt came with the car).

After speaking with a Mini specialist workshop yesterday and him trying the window (motor sounds, just no go go) he said new regulator required and suggested cutting the cables to at least get the window up.

Had another fiddle with it today and, while i didn't want to be cutting the cables on a new regulator, frustration got the better of me.

While this gave some movement to the front part of the window, the rear still refused to move (insert favourite curse words here).

That lead to undoing the spindle / cog that holds the glass to the regulator allowing me to at least move the glass up revealing that the runner had slid off the bottom of the upright track and got caught. Levering it sideways freed it and allowed it to slide up and down.

So nothing to do with the motor or cables.....Faaaaark me

So no, not still stuck open......it is now propped up with two pieces of wood.....ghetto style ftw.

I wonder what the parts supplier will think when I send the regulator back to him in a dozen bits

My next issue will be the front glass retainer which is not the normal cog style. Fcuked if I now how I'm going to remove that so I can get the full glass out and replace the regulator.

Bloody cars... love working one them... hate working on them...

What's worse is when you break something then jump onto youtube and find a video that 100% clarifies how to resolve the problem... using a search term you've used before... I think it's just the google algorithm messing with us humans

But to resolve the issue, Mini being a BMW, obviously you need to by a compete new door

New regulator in today.

Fast glass is back.

Now makes me want to change the passenger side coz it isn't as smooth / quiet as the new one lol.
