Hi guys,

I have had a small miss in firing at idle.

It has slowly gotten worse over the past 6 months to the point where it shakes and I think its going to stall when I pull up at lights.

Where would I start to diagnose?

Spark plugs/leads? there are no visible leaks anywhere around the head that I can see.

I have access to a timing gun. should I start with this?

Apart from this minor problem, she usually purrs like a kitten. great car.

Check the sparkplugs (and plug leads, if applicable) or ignition coils first up..

Battery is brand new a month ago (end of a long life).
key fob? is fairly new also, approx 12 months ago, and I have 2 different keyfobs and it does it with both used.(what is your line of thought here?)
going to check plugs and leads today.

it is due for a service on monday, but just trying to pinpoint or fix b4 it goes to holden to be (mis) diagnosed. Pun intended! lol

whilst manifold is up/off, and going to replace plugs, is it worthwhile changing coils anything while I'm there? dont want to put the manifold back on after doing plugs only to pull off again when it doesnt fix my problem.

changed plugs, ran magic for a 15 min run to the shops n back, and then a 40min journey to the city. on the way home from the city(after watching a movie) the miss crept back whist sitting at a set of lights, it seems smaller now, but more regular rather than the erratic/staccato that it was.
Any thoughts? Coil/s? what would be the next avenue for diagnosis?

My VZ Berlina did this. Fuel pump and ignition coil was the issue, was only fixed a week ago. Runs a charm now.

Mine was doing same thing. New plugs and was ok for a while then came back again. New leads and that fixed it.
