Howdy. I'm rapt to have a project to toy with but hate the fact that my budget means I have to spend the start of the project fixing crap that should have been done by previous owners. I've just scraped out and chucked all the underlay in the boot because it's soaking wet and completely perished. One of the major bungs in the boot is missing. Is this likely to be the cause of the wet boot? The boot rubber looks pretty good but I was wondering if I should be checking somewhere else as well? Oh, car is a VR sedan.

The bung was most likely removed to help drain the boot

Tailight seals can also leak badly, this was what was causing the leak in my VS boot.

I have had leaks from both the rear 1/4 windows and the tail lights. Now both are sealed, the boot stays nice and dry.
