Missing Part in Odometer

I recently purchased a VN Executve Wagon but the odometer doesn't work. The speedo works fine and Ive soldered the links on the voltage regulator so I dont have to bang the dash any more. Ive pulled the speedo apart and there seems to be a part missing between the drive motor and the grey plastic wheel that holds the rubber gear that turns the trip meter and the odometer. the drive motor and everything else turns fine but it looks like there should be a gear or something on a post on the grey plastic wheel. Can anyone please shed some light?

Its alright - Ive found kopper69's brilliant article on solving the problem http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=20560&highlight=odometer+kopper69 and have ordered the part for $10 from MT Louisa Auto Wreckers in Townsville.
