Missing vx 3.8 , even after new injectors and coil pack

Probably a dumb question but is your idle above 750rpm?
Have you tried cleaning the throttle body at the butterfly.

Yeah mate , can just lean in the window and start it and it runs with a miss and a tick, but if I get in and give it some gas it will splutter and cough until up around 2000rpm , it's almost like it's starving for fuel ..... I am just guessing

It does sound like it.
You said you ordered a fuel pump and with old bad fuel it could be gummed up.
Just for shits and giggles since you've tried everything else, turn ignition on, wait for fuel pump to stop then pull the vacuum hose off the fuel regulator and see if fuel leaks out. If it does the regulator is bad.

Check all the accessory bearings. It is noted by Holden that vibrations from the various accessories can cause misfires.

Have now got the dead spot out it , that was the throttle position sensor. Still got a bit of a tick in it .but running well , got oil in the radiator now , I am guessing it's tranny oil as I put a second hand radiator in it , I recently did an oil change and the engine oil looks good but my tranny oil was down a touch

More likely leaking LIM gaskets.

Yeah had a couple people say that , might lift the manifold off and have a look
