Hi All,
Vx ls1 400rwkw. Has any one heard of installing one poly engine mount on passenger side and one factory on the driver's side? I do drive the car a bit, not daily, just wondering if anyone has experience in this? Would it just put too much stress on the rubber mount? I just keep replacing the rubber mount on passenger side. I know it is a trade off to less vibration, but these parts were never designed to hold down that much power. Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Can't hurt to try. I've heard it done on the V6 motors before.

When you nail the throttle, the engine torque will try and twist the motor against the engine mounts, one is fairly much always under compression and the other side the engine lifts up and pulls up on the mount

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm thinking of this. Genuine mounts are getting dear. Maybe I need to stock up before they cost more..
I figure I should ask before I try.

My ute (VY LS1) came with Tuff Mounts. They are definitely much higher quality than the OEM or other aftermarket replacements that I have seen. They run from $365 to $425 but could save you $ in the long run.

You can find them here

Just a little concerned about vibration though. I guess each car is different to.

Yeah, sweet.
It will almost be worth it not to change mounts again. Been through a few sets over the years. I've heard that urethane gearbox mounts give more vibration than engine mounts. But I've never broken one of them.
I'll do the same, I'll post too if I end up going that way.

Update,
I ended up changing both engine mounts to a new type I haven't seen before. Great product! Smooth as factory, very minimal movement. 200km driving. They feel great. They look tough.
The removal of the old ones was a nightmare, as all the extra pipe work, coolers and di-fillipo headers meant I couldn't jack the engine up much.
Technico racing supplied these. Good alternative to urethane.
