It's time for some new front struts (shocks), well they are way overdue, they are still the original Monroes, 10 years old but not as bad as you would expect. I am deciding between Monroe (which have served me well), Gabriel or KYB. I haven't tried Gabriel or KYB so I am looking for some opinions from those of you who have, so any advice is welcomed. I am not looking for anything overly expensive.

KYB Excel G's IMO. Get them from anywhere just about, and good quality. Apparently Monroe aren't what they used to be.

Thanks for the reply and link. I was leaning towards KYB and they were about $50 cheaper (each) than the Monroe where I priced them.

No worries. Btw, if you're gonna change your shocks, put on new boots too and inspect the strut top bushing and bearing while they are out.

I priced the boots while I was there even though mine are ok I know that if I re-use them they will tear not long after the instal and I'll have to pull everything apart again to replace them.
I bought the strut tops and bearings (genuine Holden) on ebay on Monday and I hoped that they would be here by today but they aren't, so it looks like I can't do it this weekend.

KYB all the way. Monroe might not be what they used to be but perhaps that's a good thing coz in the past they have been absolute rubbish!
