They are not Calais international mags, There a very early VQ Caprice rim.

Hmm, in that last pic?? Are you sure Hozy? They look a bit Calais International to me.. we have a spare set sitting at the caryard. 17 inch, matching the ones on the Calais in the last pic there. 17s would have been HUGE on a VQ when they came out!!

Not discussing the Rims on the VP posted, I was mentioning the ones on the Dark Blue Caprice, That morton posted. They are Early Caprice Rims. 15x7.

OH MY GOD children, those wheels are clearly NOTHING alike :p

The ones I'm buying are a very early VQ Caprice wheel, as Hozy said. They're not international, they're not even national. Heck, they're not even interstate. They're VQ Caprice. And they sure were premium back in the day ^_^ Hell, back then the baseline VQ came with hubcaps :D

hey dan, you got any other photos of your engine after you cleaned it? ive lost track of where a few bolts and things go, so im looking for photos to help me out

also, did you just use black paint on the pulleys? and the same on the block itself?

What in particular have you lost track of? I still have some diagrams I drew up of brackets and bolts :p

And I just used the same satin black paint on the whole lot :)

Thanks mate! Hopefully it'll come up even nicer with the mags I'm getting at the end of this week. With any luck I'll get Saturday off work so I can go and get them fitted up :p

    hmm these diagrams sound intriguing.

i painted my pulleys gloss black today. its a big improvement from the brownish colour they were before. if only i did my whole block that colour when it was apart.

I think the gearbox is just meant to sit like that. Part of my problem was with a collapsed engine mount, but even with that fixed it's still a bit off centre :)

Oh, and I HAVE NEW BRAKES :D

Still bedding them in, but they feel 100x better already.

Directional slotted rotors front and back
EBC Redstuff carbon ceramic/kevlar pads on the front
EBC Greenstuff carbon ceramic/kevlar pads on the back

My old rotors were APPALLING - they were so badly worn, there was about a 2mm lip on the edges where they'd worn in - and the contact faces were BADLY scored.

300km to bed in the new rotors and pads, then we can find out just how good this $1700 brake setup really is :)

(I didn't pay that much working at Bursons, but it's still an EXPENSIVE setup :p)

DBA :) The Redstuff pads are going to bed into them so nicely ^_^

I've heard nothing but epic stories about how good the ebc reds are too, so I'm looking VERY much forward to seeing/feeling the results :) They should smell funky and sound good too ^_^

Shame they're going to take 300km to bed in, that's like three weeks' driving the way I use the stato these days :p
